U2 Duals Tracklisting

We are actively discussing the recently announced tracklisting for U2 Duals in our forums. The details are posted there and on U2.com, so I will spare you the details. I do have to say that the general consensus in our forums (and in others I have visited) is that there is too much recycled material on this release for die-hard fans and collectors, particularly the inclusion of album tracks. It will be interesting to see how they spun a one-minute snippet of Amazing Grace into a stand-alone track.

  1. It's embarrassing for U2 and insulting to anyone who pays to subscribe to a fan club to include album versions of a song on an "exclusive content" CD. At least the past several "exclusive" U2.com records and CDs had at least 3-4 "previously" unheard remixes of less popular songs.

And, to add insult to what essentially amounts to Femoral Dysplasia, the album artwork is...? I'm frankly flattened, deflated even, by this entire package! Now there is ZERO benefit to $50.00 membership.

The only positive to come out of this announcement (read: overwhelmingly negative experience) is that U2.com kindly sent me a reminder yesterday that my membership will expire in 30 days I hate to, but after 21 years, I am NOT renewing my U2.com membership.

Dear ATU2.com, thank you for being better at representing U2 than U2. Where may I send you my $50.00?

  2. Wow, I too was not happy with the tracklisting. I'm looking forward to hearing the couple of songs I don't own already but at $50 this wasn't worth it. Tired old songs that every fan has already heard, color me unimpressed.

  3. In these days almost everything is already heard. I'm looking forward to 'Duals' as I like to put a real CD to my collection and have the songs in decent quality with nice artwork and packaging, not only as crappy mp3 on my computer.
The problem that almost everything is already known within the U2 community isn't the problem of U2. It's the problem of over ambitioned fans who consider themselves as die-hards, insiders or other crap.
Nobody is forced to pay for an account at u2.com btw. Just save your money and don't whine. :)
